He has also been serving as the president and chief executive officer of BTGrad Inc. since 2008, a consulting firm that serves the information technology and health sector in the areas of infrastructure setup, curriculum design and development, online education management, and program development. Shortly thereafter, Dr. Mandal founded the Texas Healthtech Institute in 2010, a nationally accredited college in Beaumont for business and health care professionals.
Apart from his contributions as an educator, consultant, and owner/academic administrator, Dr. Mandal has been serving an important role as a strategic partner of the International Center for Aseana Management (iCAM) in Singapore since 2014. In this capacity, Dr. Mandal is primarily responsible for providing leadership in program development and research.
Looking toward the future, Dr. Mandal aims to expand Texas Healthtech Institute by offering additional informational technology and other technical education courses. Ultimately, he aims to offer services throughout the nation before eventually having his two sons take over the Institute’s operations.
Passionate about giving back to worthy causes, Dr. Mandal founded the Mandal Education Center in Texas in 2016. A charitable organization, the Center offers assistance to immigrants, as well as English as a second language classes, job skills, and other services. He also founded the Mandal Institute. Both organizations are notably headquartered in Texas. Adding to his expertise, Dr. Mandal founded and serves as the emeritus chair of the International Conference for Managing the Asian Century, which first took place in Singapore in 2013. The conference has continually been taking place every year since.
During an earlier stage of his career, Dr. Mandal was an associate and full professor at Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia, a senior lecturer of engineering management at Deakin University in Victoria, Australia, a visiting lecturer at Monash University in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, and an assistant professor at the Indian Institute of Technology in Kharagpur. Moreover, Dr. Mandal gained experience as a technical sales officer for the Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. and as a consultant on behalf of the Indian Army in New Delhi and Ford Australia in Geelong.
Dr. Mandal has become a seasoned writer, co-authoring “Introduction to System Dynamics Modelling” in 1994 and serving as a book series editor for “Managing the Asian Century,” which began being published through Springer in 2014. As a seasoned researcher, he has contributed articles to various scholarly publications. Dr. Mandal has also served on the editorial board for several international journals.
Dr. Mandal studied in his home country where he garnered a Bachelor of Technology in engineering and a Master of Technology in industrial management at the Indian Institute of Technology in West Bengal in 1979 and 1981, respectively. He subsequently achieved a Doctor of Philosophy in management science at the University of Bradford in West Yorkshire, U.K., in 1986. Furthermore, Dr. Mandal received credentials as a chartered professional in Australia.
To remain aware of developments in his field, Dr. Mandal is a professional member of the International System Dynamics Society, is the founder and former publication secretary of the Systems Dynamics Society of India, and is a senior member of the Institution of Engineers of Australia.
